Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers - was born August 8, 1989, in Paris. The couple was moved to Oxfordshire in the year she turned five and enrolled in an academy called the Dragon School. Emma's ambition was to become an actor. When she was six, she joined the Oxford Stagecoach Theatre Arts branch and took lessons for acting, singing as well as dancing. By the age of ten she was performing and taking the lead in various Stagecoach shows and school productions. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the movie version of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British novel was first cast in 1999. Emma was initially discovered as a casting agent by her Oxford drama instructor. David Heyman told Emma along together with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe after they all had 8 consecutive auditions. Emma's first screen appearance took place with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone's debut in the year 2001. The film set records for the opening day sales as well as opening week-end take-offs as well as being the most-grossing feature in 2001. Critics were impressed with the film and its performance.
